Saving Energy: The Basics

Here's a list of resources on how to save energy. To start, I'm just going to list some no brainers that my dad always pounded into our heads growing up:

1. Turn out the lights when you leave the room

2. Don't leave the water running

3. Drive at or under the speed limit

4. Eat fruits and vegetables (think how much energy it takes to make the box and the plastic wrap that something like Oreos, Pop Tarts or Snickerdoodles come in)

5. Walk

Walked instead of drove

Today I walked to the store instead of driving. It's not far, but the point is walking doesn't spew anything into the air and I saved some fuel.  I also had time for some creative thinking and meditation as well as exercise for Indy!

Campbell's Stamp Out Hunger

Yesterday I opened my mailbox to find a folded brown paper bag.  On the front were instructions to fill it up with any perishable food to be picked up the next day by my mail carrier.  This is a campaign, sponsored by Campbell's to Stamp Out Hunger.

I gathered as much as I could rummage up and have my bag ready to go!

Saving America

I'm so frustrated that it's actually hard for me to figure out how to articulate myself.  A lump in my throat is my signal that something is not right.  I can feel it in my bones too. In my head...a pressure. It's not right. It's not right what is happening to our country.

We are no longer the symbol, the hope, the beacon on the horizon.  Because of our lack of leadership, disintegraton of integrity and truth and overwhelming greed and corruption, a darkness has fallen on our beloved country. And I love this country. I do. And those who continue to support our leadership are failing to honor what our forefathers intended this great nation and people to be.  They are completely shunning responsibility to themselves, the earth and fellow man.Forefathers_1

I want to do something about this because I can sit here and rant and rave and complain and cry, but in reality I believe that action, including the action of being or silence as powerfully demonstrated by Gandhi, is what will relieve this physical and physiological unease.

What can I do?  What are the steps to save our beloved America and to restore her to her glory? What can be done to prevent further destruction of nature and lives?

Each day, I will return to this section and list something I did.  Some little or small gesture, not for any recognition, but instead as a way of documenting how to curl up to the force that can restore America....

She must be rescued from the hands that hold her back from guiding and leading the world toward true freedom.
